Hello. My name is Chris Feather and I am a BACP accredited Counsellor and qualified Supervisor. My counselling practice is based in Leicester close to the city centre and in rural South Leicestershire.
I began my counselling journey in 2004 and I have been working as a counsellor in Leicester, Market Harborough and surrounding areas ever since . I initially trained as a Person-Centred Counsellor at South Leicestershire College, Wigston but since then I have studied Cognitive Behavioral Practice which allows me to use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques in my work if needed.
In 2015 I gained a Certificate in Counselling & Psychotherapy Supervision and I am now happy to offer supervision to qualified counsellors.
My aim is to providing counselling for the people of Leicester, South Leicestershire and North Northamtonshire in a safe, confidential and non-judgmental way. I undertake therapy with individuals on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period, with the aim of helping them to have a clearer understanding of their life, their issues and to find a way forward.
In my role as a therapist I have helped clients who have experienced many types of difficulties some of which are listed below:
• Childhood abuse
• Physical illness
• Work related issues
• Low self esteem
As well as the above issues I have three special areas of interest:
The first is working with people who suffer with anxiety and panic attacks. It is an often hidden problem which can be extremely life limiting. I use a combination of CBT, Psycho-Education and traditional talking therapy to help people get control of their anxiety and/or panic attacks and to explore their cause.
Another area close to my heart is the NHS. With a clinical NHS background as well as a recent counselling role within Occupational Heath in a local NHS Trust I have an almost unique insight into the stresses NHS staff face and a strong desire to help them cope with those stresses.
Last but not least having worked at the local universities for a long time, I love working with students. I get the unique pressures that life at university can bring whilst coping with everything else along the way.
My counselling/therapy room is in central Leicester but also within easy reach of Market Harborough, Kibworth, Oadby and Wigston.
It is easily accessible both by public transport and by car. There is car parking on site and also on Victoria Park Road.
I offer early evening appointments on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday as well as Tuesday & Thursday afternoons in Leicester.
Alternatively I see people at my home which is centrally between Kibworth, Market Harborough, Corby and Uppingham on a Tuesday & Thursday morning and Wednesday evening.
I also offer telephone counselling or supervision at a mutually convenient time
